last blog

My next blog is going to be on somebody that is very influential and is a hero to me, that person is my dad Nejat. My dad is someone I will look up to because he came to this country with nothing, except with the hopes of creating a more safe and enjoyable life for his family.  When we first immigrated to the United States in 1994, the first thing my dad did was find a job so that he could start earning money right away for his family of five. My siblings and I were all very young and my mom didn't speak English, so he had no help from us. He would work around the clock to make every bit that he could to support us. Aside from working, no matter what happened, he always made sure the family was happy and refused to see anyone down and sad. On his days off, he would always take my sisters and I to a nearby park to play soccer and basketball, and we always had an amazing, fun time. After about 10 years of being in this country, and saving up enough, he started his own business. His business is a private town car service. At the beginning of his job, he had a hard time because it was a new thing for him, but after a year, his businsess started picking up and he got used to working the job. These are just a couple of reasons, of many, why I look up to my dad. He inspires me and motivates me to work hard and do good in school. He would always tell me to do good in school, play sports, and stay out of trouble. He would tell me education is what will make you successful in this country.

Steve Nash Blog

Steve Nash is an amazing point guard for so many reasons. He is different from most point guards in the NBA because he doesn't just look to score, but rather he is skillful in the way he plays. He passes the ball around to make sure his team is playing together and everyone on the court is happy. This is a another player in the NBA I look up to. Nash was born in South Africa and played professionally in Canada before moving to the United States, where he joined the NBA. When I was growing up, I would always watch his highlight games and try to learn to play they way he does, because he is a talented player and is an amazing athlete! Also Nash is confident when he plays. In his games, he would not hesitate when he got double teamed, missed a shot, or did something wrong. He always found a way out, usually by involving his whole team and getting the ball to his teammates. I really looked up to him for this because I didn't have this skill.  Whenever I played basketball and was in a situation such as being doubled team, I would always lose the ball and end up getting scored on. For many reasons,  I think Steve Nash is one of a kind and a lot of people enjoy watching him play the way he does, he makes the game more exciting.

tupac 2

Back when I was first introduced to Tupac and his music I started doing resarch on him. When I found out that he was shot and killed on September 7th, 1996, it was really sad news to me. After I had started listening to his music I was really hoping I'd get to attend one of his concerts one day. He was shot after a boxing match in Las Vegas and his killer was never found.

Then the Tupac conspiracies starting arising and everyone started saying that Tupac might still be alive. That he  never died, but rather he ran away from the hospital and went to Jamaica, some said Africa. This really had me thinking so I did more research on the topic. People had pictures of him in places and I began questioning what was true and what was not. The media had got me thinking he is alive and I become hopeful that I might have a chance to maybe see him and meet him one day. However, I snapped out of it all and reminded myself that this was all people and media talking. He was killed and there were police and hospital reports as evidence to prove it all.

Tupac Shuker Blog

Do you have a favorite singer or rapper? Tupac Shuker, a rapper from the 1980s, is my favorite artist. He started his career  way before I was even born. I was in California in the summer of 1999 with my family visiting our cousins who live in North Los Angelas. At the time I was about 8 years old and my cousin, who is 9 years older than me, was around 17 or 18. This was my first time in California. One of the days during my visit there, my older cousin went out to purchase some things and asked if I wanted to go along and see the city. I was really excited to see the big city because it was different from Portland, so I tagged along. As we were driving, I remember he had the radio tuned on to the local hip pop station, and the song that had been playing was a song called "Dear Mama." That was my first time ever hearing it and I really liked it. I asked my cousin who the artist was and where I could find his cd, and he replied to me by telling me not to worry about it because he had one at home, and was going to give it to me. When we got home he gave me his CD player along with the CD and I listened to every single track on the cd that day; I had fallen in love with the music. Before I left California, he had bought me three cds, titled, "Me Against The World," "All Eyes On Me," and "Greatest Hits." I listened to each CD probably over a 100 times, I just loved his music. At the time, the house I lived in was near the local library so I went and put everything they had on Tupac on hold. Some of  the things I wanted to check out weren't age appropriate, and they wouldn't let me. However, I convinced my aunt to check them out for me. He had some movies, lots of books about his life, and many other great material. I enjoyed all of it very much.

MJ blog 2

As Michael Jordan’s reputation and name got bigger in the sport entertainment world, Nike signed a deal with Jordan making shoes and clothing for him. The first pair of Jordan’s were released in the year 1984 and they where called the Jordan Ones. These shoes were red, white and black to match the team colors of the Chicago Bulls. Every kid on the block wanted a pair! Over the many years, Jordan released more and more shoes, clothing, and other products that people continued to love. Anything and everything by Jordan was seen as cool. I myself love his shoes and I try to buy as many Jordan shoes I can get my hands, on even though the cost is around $180 a pair. However, people are willing to spend that much on these type of shoes because they are definitely worth it.

final post

Finally I decided to do my research on Michael Jordan he is a very interesting person and also one of my favorite basketball player. Michael Jordan was one of the best basketball players back when he played in the 1980s and today he is still known as the greatest basketball player. As I was growing up I always looked up to him and wanted to be like him. I was only six when I started watching him it was back in 1996. Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn New York on February 17, 1963 his family had moved when he was young they moved north Carolina and went to school there, he loved playing basketball and that’s what he lived for he would practice every day after school. While in high school he was cut from the team and was told he was small and wasn’t good enough after he was cut it broke his heart and made him practice more and more, by the time he was a junior in high he was such a amazing player that the coach was shocked he had cut him two years in a row. He made the team that year and also was put on the top ten list for the best basketball players in high school. I played basketball my whole life and I loved it, I was always at the park playing even in the dark I played for a lot of teams back in middle school, but in high school I got cut and the it was my freshman and made me very emotional the coach told us don’t worry there is always next year he also told how Michael Jordan didn’t make the team the first two years of high school and look how amazing star he become keep practicing and keep your heads up but I knew I couldn’t do what Jordan did so I never tried out again
